A 4-day orientation/training workshop organized by Solina Centre for International Development and Research -SCIDaR in collaboration with Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board for Mentors, Primary Health Care Coordinators, PHCCs, and Supportive Supervision Program Officers, SSPOs on ‘Kano State Primary Health Care Management Capacity Strengthening Project’, KSPHCMCSP, simply ‘Manage PHC’.
The projects aim to strengthen the capacity of facility managers in 7 thematic areas, viz data management; facility management; supply chain & inventory, human resource for health; quality of care, financial management; and planning & community relations, so that they become more responsible and technical in administering and managing their facilities for the overall goals of providing primary health care services that are accessible, reliable, and qualitative among others.
The workshop is to onboard the participants that are central to the project with what is expected of them towards achieving the overall goals of the project.
It could be recalled that in 2021, an assessment was carried out on the officers-in-charges across the state using the World Health Organization (WHO)'s thematic areas of leadership and management and the outcome showed that there are gaps, hence the coming of the Manage PHC project.
The project will last for 6 months and covers only the apex primary health care centres in Nassarawa and Dawakin Tofa zones of the state.
It took place at Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital Kano from 16-19th August, 2023.
